The biochemistry division is seeking a research assistant to express and purify carbohydrate related enzymes. The individual in this position will also work as a member of the production team responsible for a diverse line of products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Expression, purification and biochemical characterization of the proteins/ enzymes.
  • Writing and executing protocols with minimal guidance.
  • Assistant product management in support of catalog sales.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of working protocols, vialing records, and substrate

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum MS in biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology or relevant.
  • Experience in molecular biology.
  • Experience in protein expression in microbial systems.
  • Experience in life science industry preferred.
  • Experience in glycobiology preferred.
  • “Good hands” at the bench and an ability to perform careful and consistent experiments.
  • Able to manage timelines productively and bring projects to completion.

Summary/Scope

We are seeking an independent scientist to optimize coupled enzyme reaction systems to produce key carbohydrate-based molecules and assess their potential biological relevance. Research will center on the integration of known and cloned pathways of sugar metabolizing enzymes with the possibility of expanding pathways based on emerging research targets.

This position is intended to allow an experienced biochemistry researcher the freedom to integrate and expand a library of enzymes to produce known and novel compounds using company inside-knowledge. This position is also an opportunity to leverage the mentorship and expertise of a resourced research environment while exploring industry as a potential career prospect.

The individual selected will benefit from regular interactions with chemistry and biochemistry research teams, including academic and industry experts. Publications are highly encouraged. Mentorship and experimental (lab) support will be available across Chemily teams.

Qualifications

Prerequisites:

  • PhD in biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology, or relevant field

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Demonstrated experience in protein expression and purification
  • Demonstrated experience in enzyme catalyzed reactions and kinetics
  • Competent HPLC user, able to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of glycoscience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills in the English language
  • Previous experience in carbohydrate chemistry and preparative scales is a plus

The individual in this position will also work as a member of the production team responsible for a diverse line of products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Product Management responsibilities for products in support of catalog sales.
  • Writing and executing protocols with minimal guidance.
  • Perform quality analysis utilizing HPLC, LCMS Single Quad System.
  • Design and construction of expression constructs of the reconstructed genes.
  • Expression, purification and biochemical characterization of the encoded enzymes.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of working protocols, vialing records, and substrate inventory.
  • Purifications are routinely done by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) or flash chromatography (FC).

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum MS in biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology or relevant.
  • Experience in molecular biology.
  • Experience in protein expression in microbial systems.
  • Familiarity with AKTA (GE Healthcare) FPLC equipment along with a practical understanding of chromatographic principles.
  • Experience in life science industry preferred.
  • Experience in glycobiology preferred.

The organic synthesis division is seeking an organic chemist especially in carbohydrate synthesis to produce structure-defined oligosaccharides and glycolipids, sugar nucleotides and their derivatives, carbohydrate-based pharmaceuticals. The individual in this position will also work as a member of the production team responsible for a diverse line of products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Product Management responsibilities for several products in support of catalog sales.
  • Writing and executing protocols with minimal guidance.
  • Perform quality analysis utilizing HPLC, LCMS Single Quad System.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of working protocols, vialing records, and substrate inventory.
  • Assist in developing new product components for Polymerase and NextGen Sequencing groups.
  • Synthesis and purification of research substrates and cellular imaging products.
  • Purifications are routinely done by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) or flash chromatography (FC).

Required Qualifications:

  • BS or Master in organic chemistry.
  • Experience in life science industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with Shimadzu HPLC equipment along with a practical understanding of chromatographic principles.

Glycobiology Production Manager

The biochemistry division is seeking a biochemist to work on in-house development projects related to production of carbohydrate related enzymes, carbohydrate-based pharmaceuticals and glycoproteins vaccines. The individual in this position will also work as a member of the production team responsible for a diverse line of products.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare formulations of glycobiology, proteomics and protein expression products.
  • Perform standard QC protocols and assist in the development of new QC assays.
  • Coordinate and fulfill custom orders.
  • Adhere to protocols and maintain proper documentation.
  • Assist technical inquiries about glycobiology, proteomics and protein expression.
  • Create supporting literature and marketing materials for glycobiology products.

Qualifications/ Experience:

  • M.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the life science industry.
  • Knowledge of protein purification.
  • Knowledge of protein science, proteomics and/or glycobiology.
  • Experience with standard proteomics applications (i.e. HPLC, MS, SDS-PAGE).
  • Strong ability to multi-task and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-starter who requires a minimum of training and direction.
  • Proven “good hands” at the bench.
